Hockey Information

Will you be ‘Playing it up!’ this summer?

Join us for six weeks of free fun hockey for kids and adults, running every Tuesday from 11th June 2019, from 7-8pm at the Northern Club! Our aim is for junior players to introduce an adult to the game or encourage them to get back into the sport – all are welcome! Our coaches run fun sessions that cater for all levels of ability, so make sure that you are ‘Playing it up!’ with us!

If you’re inspired by the GB women’s Olympic Gold to give hockey a try – or an experienced player looking for a highly competitive team environment – the Northern Club is for you…

With a secure floodlit hockey Astroturf pitch with excellent viewing areas, the club caters for hockey at all levels and all ages.

We also have a growing junior section, ranging from ages 7 to 14, which gives a clear pathway for juniors to progress to adult teams.

Whether you are new to hockey or returning to the sport after not playing for years, we have teams and training to suit everyone. Our Tuesday hockey sessions and events usually run between June – April. League fixtures are played mostly on Saturdays between September-April. Training for juniors is Tuesdays 7.00-8.00pm and adult training runs on the same night 7:30-9pm. We also host a mixed seven aside tournament from April to June, which is a friendly tournament for all abilities just for fun, and is a great opportunity for junior players to transition into the senior teams.

You can pop along to Northern and try out hockey on a Tuesday night – you don’t need any kit apart from trainers  (shinpads and gumshields recommended for juniors). We even provide the sticks so don’t rush out and buy one!

The hockey section currently fields 3 competitive adult squads which are entered in to leagues and a junior section for ages 7-14 who play friendlies and tournaments against local clubs.
