2022 Cricket AGM – Friday 14th October

AGM – 2022 Season Review.

Chairmans Review

Men’s Overview.

1st XI: A lot of nearly’s but still a good season on the back of our league win last year for a squad that is in a transition period.

  • 4th in League,
  • Last 16 National Comp
  • Area final of the National t20,
  • Quarter final Echo Knock-Out
  • Semi-final Lancs Knock-Out
  • Ray Digman Champions

2nd XI:

  • 7th in the League
  • Unfortunate beaten Finalists in the Chester Cup
  • Thank you to Ben Sloan for his stint as Captain
  • Wish Liam all the best over the coming years.

3rd XI (SK)

  • 5th in League,
  • Joint 3rd Team – Embee Trophy Winners
  • Mike Leddy Semi Finalists
  • And a big thank you to Kingy who has completed he successful stint as 3rd XI Captain!

3rd XI (GK)

  • Highlight – Not getting relegated, well-done Graham! 😊

5th XI

  • In the great man’s last season as 5th XI captain, Coyney managed to get his youth team to win 2 games!! It doesn’t matter that both were down to the opposition conceding!
  • We saw more women making their Saturday debuts which is great!

Sunday XI

  • Finished 10th in what was a tough league. Some great individual performances which saw Seb Rice reach his maiden senior century!
  • Thank you to Andrew for leading the team over the last couple of seasons, we wish you all the look in the 5th’s.

Women’s Overview:

  • We now have 30 active members! Increase from when started in 2019.
  • The Winter Season started this time last year! Playing in a fun Ladies Indoor Cricket League, organised by Academy North – Ended the Competition in 2nd place.
  • Summer began – WON the Lancashire Indoor Tournament in Blackburn
  • This Season, our newer recruits entered the leagues Softball Festival, this was great for development, and they weren’t disgraced!
  • Our first year competing in the Development Hardball Super 8s league WON IT!
  • Runners Up in the resulting ‘finals of the plate’ where they were beaten only by a couple of runs by a very experienced Sefton Park.

Going Forward: –

  • This month Winter Indoor League has started.
  • Planning another recruitment drive for more Women and Girls to join ahead of next Season.
  • We are looking forward to working with our new Director of Cricket to plan some coaching sessions with our Women going forward.

Safeguarding Report 2021/22.

  • Jo Browne has done a fantastic job on leading Safeguarding for us – Thank you to Jo.
    • It’s so important to us as a club as without it, we don’t get our Club Mark.
  • Was great to have some much support at smash this year – It takes a lot of work to setup the DBS check, but not so much to complete it. This mean that if you asked to complete one, please do as the majority of the work is done for you!

Moving on to our juniors…Successful, and progressive season all-round.

Junior’s Overview:

U15’s – 2nd in the League & Got to Semi’s in the Cup.

U13 Red – Won their League

U13 Blue – 2nd in their League. Really important given it was our plan to have 2 balanced u13 teams as opposed to 1 really strong team.

U11 Blue – Mid table finish

U11 Yellow – Only ALL GIRLS hardball team in the league!

U10 – Girls Softball – Won their group & reached semis of the cup.

Disability Overview:

  • Ran another 8-week FREE programme for our friends at Bridge Inn Community Farm. Big thanks to Nic, Jo and other helpers who made it possible.
  • We are looking at a larger scale fundraiser tournament next year for the farm.

Congratulations to:

Recognition from Lancashire to Paul Wills for his lifetime achievement award and to Nic Reeves for her growing the game award! We are all very proud!

Financial Overview.

Nothing major to call out.

Need support with sponsorship for next season – Anyone know any companies – friends / family etc.
